Let's Move Salad Bars to Schools

Due Date: N/A

Let's Move Salad Bars to Schools (LMSB2S) launched in 2010 with the mission of donating salad bars to U.S. schools so that every child has daily access to fresh fruits and vegetables. This healthy school lunch initiative was founded by Food Family Farming Foundation (now the Chef Ann Foundation), National Fruit and Vegetable Alliance, United Fresh Produce Association Foundation, and Whole Foods Market in support of First Lady Michelle Obama's Let's Move! Initiative. LMSB2S awards salad bar packages to help school districts expand their commitment to serving fresh fruits and vegetables. Schools use the grants (approx. $2,800 value) to implement salad bars as part of their daily meal programs. As a managing partner of LMSB2S, the Chef Ann Foundation helps school districts through the application, fundraising, and fulfillment processes. They also provide planning and implementation resources for Salad Bars at The Lunch Box. Any district or independent school participating in the National School Lunch Program (NSLP) is eligible to apply. To qualify for a Let's Move Salad Bars to Schools grant, you must offer the salad bar as part of the reimbursable meal served in your district. The 6-foot, five-well salad bar package is appropriate for locations that serve at least 100 reimbursable meals daily.
