URL: http://www.deq.state.or.us/wmc/solwaste/rethinkrecyc/4-5/RR4-504.pdf
Abstract: Designed for grades 4-5, this lesson will help students recognize that there is no "away" in "throw it away"; identify the destination of the waste they generate at home and at school; identify the negative aspects of dumping or burning trash; learn the "solid waste hierarch" for managing our trash. This lesson can be used with Shel Silverstein's book, "Where the Sidewalk Ends". A supplemental activity, "Throwawy Three" is a short skit provided in the DEQ resources under Plays.
