Title: Washington Intermediate School, Pekin, Illinois
Abstract: What can you do with an historical school building when you don't want to or can't afford to rebuild? Washington Intermediate School in Pekin, Illinois and Phillips Swager Associates addressed this concern together. Through careful coordination between all parties, the wiring and utilities were concealed in lowered ceilings, soffits and vertical pipe chases. Energy saving features and recycling efforts demonstrate some techniques that can be utilized to recycle the building.
