Title: Silent Scourge: Children, Pollution and Why Scientists Disagree

URL: http://www.grist.org/advice/books/2003/12/15/minds/

Abstract: NonFiction

AuthorColleen Moore

Colleen Moore’s book identifies a troubling body of evidence. She shows how environmental pollution places an increasing and quantifiable burden on the education of American children. The book centers on six pollutants (lead, mercury, noise, PCBs, pesticides and chemical wastes) and how they hinder children’s developmental and learning abilities. Although this was published March 2003, the book continues to provide insightful (although disturbing) reading. A full review is provided by Grist.
